Ruff-Teck Records was a direct continuation of Ruffneck records. After having received a demo from Arjen Flipsen, DJ Ruffneck was convinced of the quality displayed by this young producer and contacted him immediately. After a short phone call an appointment was made and soon after the first drum & bass release on Ruffneck (not Ruff-Teck) saw the light of day. The name Ruff-Teck however, came to be as a result of the fact that DJ Ruffneck van Kerckhoven actually got sued by someone who had gained the rights to the deceased Ruffneck Records label in a not so pretty manner. Now remember, Ruffneck Records was founded and run by DJ Ruffneck from the very beginning and the Ruffneck logo is actually DJ Ruffneck's own face as painted by P. Moerland. To make a long story even longer: after releasing two records on Ruffneck Records (50 & 51) DJ Ruffneck received a letter from a lawyer telling him he had no right to release music on his own label anymore. Go figure.

So, if you are curious about the current proud owner of an empty shell (meaning: a logo without a crew) just do a search on the net for something like "ruffneck.nl" and draw your own conclusions. You will probably be just as surprised by the complete lack of respect certain people get from their colleagues as we were. Those who are buying new Ruffneck merchandise would do well to remember that they are NOT supporting DJ Ruffneck this way, but are actually supporting a wake of disrespectful vultures.

DJ Ruffneck quickly grew tired of the childish yet deadly serious drama and decided to change the label's name to Ruff-Teck so that he could at least continue to make and release music. Thus Ruff-Teck was born and the numbering continued at 52, where Ruffneck had left off. Ruff-Teck is no longer officially distributed by an actual distributor because of the many political games that are played in the drum & bass scene. Releases are available exclusively through the online Ruff-Teck store or via Sector-1's distribution channels.

All Ruff-Teck releases are extremely limited as of number 63; making these records very valuable for any DJ who wants to play the ruff shit, while at the same time also giving the finger to those who choose to engage in boycotting small underground labels not originating on your precious island's soil. Remember that all things change. The costs made on these limited releases are so high that no single cent is earned on the sales of the records. This is music for the sake of music! As you now know, the history of Ruff-Teck records is quite a turbulent one, but according to DJ Ruffneck it has all been worth it so far, because it has given him one of his truest and dearest friend: Arjen Flipsen (Ancronix).
